2014 G23 ballast not filling completely?

14' G23. Ballast shows being full but the boat leans heavy to port side with just 2 similar sized people in it. I tried running the starboard until it overflows but it never happens. I have to drain the port to 5/8 to get the wake clean on both sides.

Very odd to me as I'm not sure how a tank can only partially fill.

Check all your ballast impellers ASAP. Pull the cap off ( 3 screws) and visually inspect the impellers. Let us know what you find if anything

Or pull 2 screws, and loosen the 3rd so that you can rotate the cover for a visual. You don't need to pull the impellers, you will be able to tell if the vanes are hacked. Unless of coarse your pumps are mounted upside down, then good luck, a mirror and a flashlight. Start with the starboard side, since that's your issue. Ditto Mcgavin, let us know what you find...

jlliles87 your ballast pressure sensors are toast . Replace all 3 of them at the same time . Known problem on these boats. I have replaced all mine twice on my 2017 G23

Dang. How hard are they to change out? And how do you know which one to get?

I’d Check your ballast impellers, The ballast sensors weren’t introduced until 2016 and revised in 2018. From your post you have a 14 correct?

A bad sensor or pressure switch would still allow you to overfill & drain manually.
jlliles87, when you indicated that you try to run the starboard ballast to overfill (water coming out the "I'm full" port), does the pump continue to run, or does it shut down, not allowing you to max fill? Did you also check that your ballast valves are completely opening and closing (that may be a '16 plus thing, seems I read something somewhere).

Yes mine is a 2014 g23. I'm trying the impeller th is weekend to see if that helps. Scooter G ScooterMcgavin The pump will stop on the initial cycle when it shows full and I have run it again until it overflows but it doesn't overflow after extra several minutes and doesn't time out either.

My '14 will not initially fill full from the timer, it requires a manual restart but shortly after the restart it starts to pump out the vents/overflow on both sides. Sounds like impeller cant push enough water in and its equalizing the pressure. or just leaking back out.

Like said above check the impellers. I change mine out about once a year so far.

You may want to order one, two, three now, so you have them coming. If it turns out to be something else (doubt it) you will use them eventually.
Check the color on your old ones, should be green (or black or yellow). Nautique Parts indicates Water Puppy Pumps.

They are pretty up to speed on getting things out the door.

If you are in a hurry and have a Nautique Dealer close by, they probably have one sitting on the shelf with your name on it.

Did not realize the ballast pressure sensors were not introduced until 2016. I guess that rules them out in this situation. Good to know although.

Impeller did the trick. Worked perfect after that

Was there anything left of the old one? Or was it toast
