    Pebble/Rebble question (and warning)

Shortly after getting my 2016 G21 I upgraded the Surf Select module to 2.0 and got a Pebble Classic and Pebble Time Steel working with it.

    That worked great for years...until...

I connected them to my phone to correct the time (the only way to do that). Now when I connect back to the boat Surf Select just says "Failed". Technically it connects & I get the Pebble icon on the screen but the app won't open.

I'm pretty sure Rebble updated the firmware when I connected to the phone. I don't know what it was before I connected, but now I have v4.4.0-rbl on the Time Steel and v3.11.1 on the Classic.

I found some articles about downgrading the firmware (even one from Nautique), but the all end in dead-ends directing to links & downloads that no longer exist.

Has anybody else been through this & found a fix? A few things I'm considering:

    1) Start over with a "new" old Pebble watch (or reset mine), but I'm pretty sure the first thing it's going to do is upgrade my firmware again when I connect it to my phone to install the Surf Select app.
    2) Downgrade the firmware one of my existing watches if I can figure out how.
    3) Get a Surf Select 3.0 module and Garmin watch.
    4) Find somebody selling a working watch with Surf Select installed and an older firmware version. Anybody???

Thanks for any help! For those with a working watch, I'd strongly suggest against connecting it to your phone.

I've got an OG (Kickstarter edition) Pebble that I used on my previous G21. It worked fine when I last used it and has not been connected to a computer since then. Pictures attached. Let me know if you decide to go this route and are interested. I just now plugged it in for grins and am charging.

tchancey I thought about updating the time on my 2 Pebble Time watches which were loaded with the Surf Select but I reframed from doing so for fear of what you have encountered . My Apple Watch no longer has the Pebbke app and I don’t it it can be downloaded to an iPhone any long . If you find a solution please post because I’m interested . I have 3 Pebble Time watches all loaded with surf select and all have the wrong time of day which I will just have to deal with

I spent a TON of time working on this and had everything good to go for 2017 and onward. Then the Pebble app for the iPhone disappeared off the Apple site. And somehow, killed it off my phone. I know of no way to get it back and without it, I cannot get the NSS app onto the Pebble watches. If someone knows another way, please chime in.

Thanks everybody. Bob...I appreciate the offer. Charles, I saw how much time you spent. It was your initial posts that helped me get 2.0/Pebble working. Thanks for documenting all that.

So I solved the problem tonight...

That's a 3.0 module the dealer had in stock and a Garmin Fenix 5x Plus that was for sale nearby on Craigslist. I swapped out the module and the watch paired right up when I turned the boat on. A quick test showed everything working again. And the watch has the correct time. :-)

Now I have the world's largest collection of useless Pebble watches and Surf Select 1.x and 2.0 modules. Maybe they'll go up in value like baseball cards.

This is pretty much the only way forward. 3.0 and Garmin. I really don't see any other way to get the Pebble watches going at this time.
