I was told by my local Nautique dealer that due to an electrical short(and burn), I will need a main wiring harness to the console. They are unable to find one and said they are unable to build one. Any ideas where I can get one of these or have one made?

I am sure someone could build one from the wiring diagram. See the diagram here:

Thank you for the response. I really want to find someone who can help me with this work. I don't have the know-how, and I'm stuck because my local dealer says they can't assist me. The boat runs great, and everything else is fine. It's just a shame that it's stuck and I can't use it until I get this sorted out. Can anyone out there recommend someone who could do this job? I'd be really grateful for any help. I am located in SC, but location probably doesn't matter much in this case.

It turns out they are saying several wires are burned so may need to replace all wires as well as potentially some dash components. Does anyone have a contact for a boat restoring specialists who can perform this type of work? Also, I have full insurance coverage on this boat, including comprehensive. Does anyone have any experience with insurance companies(Progressive) covering(or not) electrical shorts like this one that caused so much damage?

NautiqueJeff... what's the name of the company offering retrofit gauges with a plugnplay wire harness for the OG210s? I know they build those harnesses to spec, so maybe they could build his harness... I just can't remember the name of the company off hand.Jason

Do you have pictures f where the wiring harness is burned up? Any idea what caused it? I would be willing to help you fix it and/or rebuild the wiring harness.

I believe I have found someone in the area who is going to be able to fix it. He took a look yesterday and said that it didn't see to be nearly as bad as was described. Hopefully his initial impression is correct and it isn't too bad.
Not sure what caused the short, but he said the reason for the burn was there was no breaker/fuse installed on the wire that went from the console directly to the battery switch as there should have been. It was just wired directly to it. The breaker/fuse would have kept it from burning. He will investigate some of the dash components to see what may have been the culprit for the short.
Thank you for your offer to help. I will let you know if we hit another snag.

196Mike,
It turns out these guys said they are unable to fix the problem. Too many wires burned all the way to the console and some parts are unavailable. Basically a lot of rewiring requiring a lot of time. Not sure what parts they were referring to. At minimum, I need the boat to start and run and the bilge to work. This doesn't have ballasts to fill, no perfect pass, etc. Just simple, analog gauges. I find it hard to believe that I have to total the boat for this when everything was running so well before this short. Are you able to or can you recommend anyone that may be willing to take a job like this? I am willing to drive it and drop it off for an extended period of time for repair if needed. This is the perfect boat for my family and the cost of the new(er) ones is prohibitive for us.
I don't have any pictures but can provide some if needed. I can also get some additional information from the mechanic when I got to pick it up.

Time to start searching for a salvage boat you can harvest a harness from....

Agreed. But it may be your best option. I suspect that NautiqueJeff may be able to suggest a few search strategies....

SAN4Fun, I’d be more than happy to help out. Most everything can be rebuilt. The wiring harness is not that complicated. I’m just curious where the burn is mostly contained.
I’m sure there is a wiring schematic on the forum and with my boat and help from others we can get you back up and running.
Just let me know.'06 SANTE210 - Current Boat

agree with 196Mike I have rewired almost everything up to the console over the years with upgrades. I uploaded the documents i had on my PC. Thinking off the top of my head, there should be:
1. Engine Start Ignition (I think this is 2/3 wires)
2. Ballast (you said not needed)
3. Depth finder (get a new kit from faria)
4. Console Power/Ground (this is undersized anyway for with 6/8ga)
5. Speedometer (this can be elimated with a GPS one)
6. Bildge Pumps (power and ground)
7. Fuel fill sending (2 14/16 ga wires)
8. Oil Pressure (single wire)
9. Engine Temperature (single wire)
10. Perfect Pass Paddle Wheel ((this can be elimated with a Stargazer)
11. Perfect Pass motor controller
12. Engine Warning light
13. RPM signal
Speakers and nav lights run under the gunnel so that's not a worry. I cant remember if the blower runs under the gunnel or through the floor. I cant think of anything else.
Take some detailed photos. I'll start working on a excel sheet with the wire colors and identifying what's what.
I can sketch you a wiring diagram to help with the repair. and help with part numbers for the gauges you need.Attached FilesLast edited by Rusty Barras; 08-10-2023, 08:42 AM.
