Hello - new guy here but pretty knowledgeable about boats in general but new to ballast systems. Question if the pumps fill and drain based on timers ( preventing pump/impeller damage) why do you need ballast sensors? If I fill till the vent overflows why do I need them? Can you simply unplug or bypass? Thx

With the sensors working properly, and a couple of fill and empty cycles, those timers are pretty spot on. I think where they come in handy is when you are doing a partial fill for maybe a newer surfer, or to even out the load on an odd weighted boat, or a wakeboard run where you don't want as much ramp. We don't get a complete empty, and always run the drain until the start of the pump growl. Resale carries a value here also on a properly functioning boat...
