GT40 help needed

I have a GT40 in the boat with perfect pass installed. I can trick ski at 28km/hr all day long, but after 2 slalom passes the boat will backfire and sputter:

in the past 2 years I’ve replaced the distributor, plugs, wires and have pulled the spout connector and redone the timing. Up until a little while ago it ran fine. Can’t chase it down for the life of me… Argh!
