    Raw water connection, ZR 409

Please excuse my ignorance, what is this water connection for? 2009 210 with the ZR 409 without the cats. From what I understand raw water only cools the exhaust. I was hoping I could run the boat at my house on a garden hose using this connection.

On the inside of this connection there is a red hose that leads to a valve on a tee. I’m assuming I need to turn the water on and open this valve in order to run the boat out of water? The older boats were not this complicated!

I’m not familiar with that vintage 210, but it’s a freshwater flush kit. Hook a garden hose to it and open the valve you described. You should see water coming out of the raw water intake on the bottom of the hull. Assuming there’s a valve at the raw water intake through-hull, close it, then start the boat. You should have water intermittently coming out of the exhaust. If you want to get fancy, you can use a Y-fitting and a second short length of hose to a bucket full of RV antifreeze to winterize it. Start it on the hose to get it up to temp, then swap it over to antifreeze and suck it all in. My ZR409 takes 5 gal.

DoubleUpDisaster I hooked up the hose, opened the valve and turned it on, but I did not close the raw water intake through-hull. After an about 30 seconds of no water coming out of the exhaust I shut it down. I’ll try to run it tomorrow but close the thru hull fitting this time. Good thing my new impeller hasn’t gone in yet.
