How to Rebed Windshield Glass Into the Frame

Long story short, in an attempt to tie off during a storm with high winds, the person on shore trying to help catch the boat and keep it from slamming into the pier tried to catch the boat at the side windshield and accidentally pushed the glass through the frame. Some how the glass stayed in tact but I now need to rebed it into the gaskets. I'm going to go ahead and replace all of the gaskets between the glass and the windshield frame but was curious if I should add a silicone bead to the gasket or use a marine grade glue to adhere the glass to the gasket. Based on how the window looks, it appears there was some sort of adhesive between the rubber gasket and the window (residue on the glass edge). Before taking the glass out I would not have thought to add an adhesive. Any guidance is very much appreciated.

I have disassembled and reassembled many windshields. No adhesive should be used. I'll find a thread that shows the process.

I normally put the gasket on the glass, and then press the frame onto that.

Thank you so much!! I didn't think I would need to but the residue on the glass made me question it.

The residue is probably a mixture of dust, dirt, and other fine particulates. Razor blades usually work pretty good to get this layer of gunk off.
