Sport Nautique 200 Center Sky Pylon

Does anyone know if it is possible to add a center ski pylon to a Sport Nautique 200? The boat I am considering purchasing does not have one.

What year is it? My 2016 came with a removable one.

The boat is a 2013. It is more than just the removable pylon. The boat does not have the mounting point for the removable pylon. This boat only has a tow point on the tower and one at the stern. Seems like a pretty big job even if it is doable.

Like you said- I'm sure it is doable but it is likely a pretty time consuming (and expensive) job

I'd have to look at mine. If I recall there's really not that much to it but you'd have to contact Nautique parts to see if the parts are still available. There's basically the hole in the floor which would need to be cut with something like a 6" hole saw, then attach the hardware base to the rib. The rest would be sealing up the cuts and holes drilled for attaching the mounting hardware with epoxy. The scariest part would be locating the correct spot to drill the hole for the mounting hardware. I'd also want to make sure the rib is there to bolt to.

Very interesting post. I was unaware that the Sport 200 was even optioned without the center pylon. Out of curiosity could you post a picture?

Sport200V I was thinking the same thought. All Sport 200 had center pylons. I would like to see a picture as well.

I have attempted to include a picture. l verified with the seller that it only has a tower and stern pylon.

I don't think there was ever an option to have a center pylon, such as in a regular 200, on the sport 200. Without the center engine mounting structure, I'm not sure there is even enough structure in the hull to support a center pylon.

My boat is at the lake and I can't get to it anytime soon but this should settle it.

ok, I stand corrected. All the sport 200 I'd seen didn't have one, they looked like the picture @jrzhastings posted with they pylon in the back. Was it an option? On all years?

I can't say if it was an option or not as I bought mine used and it came that way. I did look at a 2012 and a 2015 when I was trying to find one and both of those had it. I did notice that in the 2016 YouTube review with Adam, he didn't mention one.

Also, you're not entirely wrong about the pylon installation and support. Mine moves around a bit within the mounting cup it secures to in the floor. The mounting itself doesn't move but the pylon does. I ran this down with the dealer and Nautique parts, both said this was normal and nothing to worry about. I've been using it occasionally and it hasn't gotten any worse and seems fine. I had a 1995 MC 200V with the pylon option that wasn't removeable and it was much worse. That one would wiggle a 1/4" in each direction where it mounted to the rib. I reinforced that one with a through bolted 1/4" stainless steel U channel I had fab'd up at the BIL's shop. Even with that in place it would still move about an 1/8" in each direction with a strong skier behind the boat.

If your a slalom skier, make sure you test ski it before buying it as the wake is IMHO terrible for slalom unless your running short rope lengths (28 off or shorter) at 36 mph.
