I currently have a 2002 Ski Nautique so the majority of my time is spent slalom skiing. We occasionally spend a week on a lake trip. I was looking into options for doing other things while on these trips. The have skied behind a SV211 and it was ok. Not nearly as good as my current boat in my opinion. Not sure if there other options to consider.

My Sport 200 skis fine for what we do which is recreational, open water skiing. Is it a dedicated slalom tug? Absolutely not. It's a crossover boat that does everything good but nothing great. If tournament level performance is what you're going for this is not the boat for you. It's just not designed for that, that's why they make the Nautique 200 and the Ski Nautique.

As to other options..... Buy a second boat as you'll never be happy with a crossover. A crossover is always going to be lacking somewhere and with someone that is slalom skiing say, 80 - 90% of the time, you will not be happy. Heck, just about every serious slalom skier I know whines about any other slalom boat other than their personal favorite boat.

If you find yourself thinking or making these types of comments.... there's a bump here, the wake is too crisp there, too soft at this speed, too tall at that speed or that line length, do not buy a crossover boat.

Back when I was looking for my sport 200, there was a few I came across that did not have the pylon. I as well looked at adding the ski pylon onto it. It did seem like it was possible, but would be a lot of work. If it is a sport 200 you are indeed looking for I would look for one that has the pylon already in it. As for ski ability and use ability of the boat, I think it’s a great crossover boat. Hence why I have one. Yes a Ski Nautique is a better ski boat, which I ski behind regularly but I don’t have the budget to have two boats and this is a compromise to be able to ski and surf behind. The wake for surfing is pretty good, but you need to ballast it up and add a wake shaper.

Can someone tell me how to remove the pylon? I'm about to purchase a 2011 sport 200 and it's an older gentleman who has never removed it. Thanks
