Filling / Emptying Ballast Tanks while in Motion?

    Hello all,

I have a 2021 GS 22, currently I will idle the boat to fill or empty the ballast tanks to be safe. Is this necessary?

You can fill while idling or moving. If you’re going to do it at idle. Bump the rpm’s up so the pumps get full power.

We generally start the fill process the second the boat hits the water, depending on who is up 1st. By the time I'm parked, back in the boat, and outside the no wake zone, we are ready to throw a rope. "Back to Dock" mode after the last session for the day and we are empty by the time the boat is back on the trailer.
Your fill & empty rate will be a little faster with the boat running and the alternator pumping 14v's.
