GS22 Surfablity for a big guy

Hello, new to the forum and looking at my first Nautique. I currently have an older Supra and it doesn't have enough draft to push me on a board. I'm a 265lb guy, so we are looking to upgrade. I'm looking at a GS22 with Pro Ballast. Is this going to be enough to push me or should I be looking at a G23 or similar?

If you are mostly into surfing and wake boarding, I believe that the G series might be a more appropriate boat. The GS22 is sold as a cross over boat for ski, wake, surf.

That being said, my GS22 pushes me plenty while surfing and I am 6'2'', 230 lbs.

    good luck with your shopping.

Vanlon A piece of advice, I had a crossover boat, 2001 Sport Nautique and I always regretted the purchase. At the time I was still into three event skiing prior to wake surfing and the wake and pull where just not quit on par the traditional three event boat, the Ski Nautique. Same goes for the G, if you are mainly a surfer go for the G vs the crossover GS. I promise you, if you buy the GS you will always be second guessing yourself on why you didn't buy the G. I know GS owners will disagree, but as a prior crossover owner, I will never purchase another crossover boat again. Don't drink the crossover boat Kool-Aid.

GMLIII makes a few good points, but here’s my counter point.
If you’re only surfing and wakeboarding and you want the best possible wave, look no further, the G is the boat for you.
If you and your family and friends want to do more than that and you want to save some money on the purchase price and operating costs, you may want to take a GS out for a test ride. Make sure you can surf it comfortably (I think you’ll be fine) and if so, you can get a boat that does everything quite well and is easier to drive, less affected by wind, which is nice if you’re maneuvering in tight spaces, and again, will save you some money.
        I love my GS22 and wouldn’t be as happy if I had a G.
But again, if it’s all about having the biggest, baddest wave possible, you gotta go with the G.

Thanks for the insights, I pulled the trigger on a G23. Decision thoughts were that I don't change out boats that often and I didn't want the "what if" anxiety. The dealer offered me one for $20K more with 150 more hours so I think the price was decent. Looks like a fantastic boat, can't wait to try it out. Looks like I'm part of the Forum now.

Vanlon Wise decision. You will sleep better at night. Glad you didn't drink the crossover boat Kool-Aid.
