Recently cleaned out my carb - 1st trip out it ran great. Took it out today and the engine was kinda pulsing and much more while smoke coming out of the exhaust than Id expect to see. Mostly at idle speed. Any thoughts? Thank you

How did it run? If it ran fine, but you just noticed more smoke, that may be due to cooler temperature and more humidity in the air.Comment

Many moons ago, I bought a '70 Ford short box 4x4 from a used dealer for $500 (steal). Blew white smoke, he knew for certain it was a blown head gasket. It ran fine, but I was pretty certain it was the carb. Somehow I talked him into letting me take the carb off and bring it back the next day. If I remember right, it had a bad float needle letting just enough extra fuel through that it ran ok, but puffed white smoke. Next day, no smoke, he was pretty p.o'd, but we already made the deal. Wish I still had the truck.Comment

Went ahead and bought a new carb. I went with the Quick Fuel 600. Going to install it replace the impeller and do an oil change and see how that goes.Comment

You won't be sorry. The QF M series carbs are very nice. They typically come from the factory all set-up and should be plug-and-play.

Your local auto parts store will have to hook you up. Take the boat there and let the parts guy help you out.
You'll either need to make your own custom hardline with a kit like this or make a soft line with some fuel line fittings and bulk fuel hose.2004 206 Air Nautique Limited - Black with Vapor Blue (family style)

The metal "hard-line" can be a bit challenging to work with. I prefer the flexible fuel line. I went to a local hydraulic hose shop and had them make me a stainless steel braided fuel line. The cost was about $100. Or, you can simply get this:
