H6 engine starboard engine drain port clogged?

    Hi All,

I started my winterization process on my 2018 200 with the H6 motor and on the starboard side engine drain hose only a tiny dribble of water came out?

I pulled the hose off completely and the line did has some debris that I blew out, but when I pour AF into the block by feeding the hose that comes off the top of the thermostat housing - nothing comes out that drain port?

I tried to take off the smooth barb attachment that’s screwed into the block to see if I could clear a potential blockage, but I can’t tell which way to rotate it? Is that one the rare left hand threaded situations? When I try to loosen the normal counterclockwise it doesn’t seem to start coming away from the block.

my normal process is to drain all water first and then pull AF out of a bucket, but I was to be 100% sure I have all of the water out.

    Any ideas or thoughts?

    thanks, JMO

If that fitting rotates, but doesn't either get tighter or start separating from the block, then it may be a press fitting. If that's the case, you should pay attention that it doesn't leak next season when you un-winterize.

How about hooking up an air compressor to that fitting and injecting air into the cooling system. If air comes out other places then its not blocked. Maybe that will clear any possible blockage.

Another idea, If you have an vacuum oil extractor, you could also try hooking that to the fitting and see if you can suck anti-freeze out of it.

I use a shop vac with a piece of heater hose and alternate suction and blowing in all the drain holes

Thanks for the suggestions - of interest hooking up a hand suction pump to the fitting allows me to push and pull air so it’s not clogged. Must be that my technique of pouring AF on the outlet hose from the top of the thermostat doesn’t get it into the starboard side of the engine block.

will ask the dealer about that fitting tomorrow.
