2010 SANTE 230 board racks stuck closed

A friend just got a nice 230 and called me for help on swiveling the board racks. I told him to just push the button and swivel them open/ closed . He said he tried but the button won’t budge to release them. I went over and sure enough…the buttons on the bottom of the both board racks will not move. I pulled the protective rubber boot down to see the actual metal button as seen in pic #2. It’s a 2010 and if I remember correctly…push the buttons up to release and swivel and the spring will pop the release button back into lock position when it swivels / reaches the max range. The button simply won’t push…even tried to tap it with a rubber hammer. Has this happened to anyone and what the fix? Thanks

If no one has ever used it in 14 years, it could be stuck. I’d start by using dry lube spray all inside the spindle and the button. It can still drip so protect what’s beneath. I’d then try to shake the board holders back and forth while trying to press the button.
