    98 196 shows no power

My boat driver hit a stump at 36mph. The boat took on some water, ankle deep in the boat when level. The boat has been repaired, but when I try to start it with a fully charged battery it doesn’t show any signs of life. No power from the battery. Got any ideas where to start looking?

There’s nothing more heartbreaking than watching your boat launch 2-3’ out of the water! Ripped everything off under the boat!

Who repaired the boat? Why didn't they get it completely running?

In terms of answering your question, there isn't enough detailed info in your post to offer much help.

How long has it been parked? Did the engine run after the impact? How about the trans? I'm going to assume it's been parked for a while for hull repair.

Assuming the engine ran after the impact and there was no fatal internal damage to the trans or engine, I'd look at the starter and solenoid.

If they got dunked in bilge water and then sat for an extended period, it's possible they froze up.

If it was my boat...I'd do the following. Change the engine oil and trans fluid. Pull the plugs and put a little oil in each cylinder. Then hand roll the engine over to verify no interference and it's not frozen. Pull the starter and have it bench tested at a local auto parts store. Replace if needed and then try to start.

Good luck. Let us know what you decide to do.

Still married….barely. No water in engine or transmission oil/fluid. It’s something electrical. I’m not sure if there’s a main circuit breaker or fuse that could have gotten water in it and is no longer conducting ? The radio or blower or anything electrical is getting energized

I believe there's a 50 amp breaker located on the motor that I had randomly get set. Boat was completely dead. I would start there then move on to the breaker panel working from the battery input to the panel. If no power to the panel, trace back to the battery and start from there.

This is what it should look like. They move them around but you should get the picture (pun intended) by this....

Sorry to hear, hope everyone was ok.

Do you know if the fuel pump is getting energized at all? If it is a GT40 it should run for a few moments prior. I had an issue with my ECU which caused the fuel pump to not run although my starter would still fire.

Have you checked power at the starter with a multi-meter when the key is turned?

I truly appreciate you folks! It was a circuit breaker for the ignition!!!!
