Bent Ski Pylon

I have what might be an ignorant question. My pylon worked it's way loose a couple times last year. Each time I'd tighten it and move on. Not it's spring and time to fix it. I got the new U-bolts, The base is still solid. I pulled the pylon this afternoon and notice it's very bent.

Is it supposed to be straight?

For a few reasons, I'm going to say it's supposed to be that way.

2. Nautique parts sells one and it specifically calls out that it's straight in the title (leading one to believe there are some that aren't).

3. It's bent at a weird place.
4. That is an extremely thick piece of steel.

When it's properly in place does it look straight/perpendicular to the floor? - is so it's probably ok. That much bend you would think it would be hitting the doghouse.

It does look right when installed. I suppose I will reinstall with the new hardware.

Yeah......it would take some massive event to bend one of those pylons. I bet it would rip out the hull mountings way before it would bend.

It is that Python power pulling so hard that the pylon bends.

The best thing to do is get rid of that boat immediately.

I'll be over in a few minutes to get rid of it for you.

A Python Ski Nautique is one of my dream boats. I have a line on one, and am hoping to close the deal this spring.

Pylon fitment has always been tight because of the larger box. Used an impact to tighten new lock nuts this time. Hope it holds.

My favorite nut has the nylon inside. Have you tried using those to keep them from working loose.
