2017 G21 Ballast King Pump Issue

Hello, we have a 2017 G21 that
has the Jabsco Ballest King pumps.

They are installed with the pump on top.

We have had 3 go bad, and we are wondering
if it is a known issue.

The seal leaks because of gravity.

We are also looking to get new seals.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You're saying they're installed with the pump head above the motor? My BIL has had that same issue with his Mastercraft--they were installed in that orientation. I am pretty sure when he replaced the last one, he flipped them over.

Exactly. There are three pumps, two have the pump housing above the shaft, as several have gone bad, several times. The center ballast pump is horizontal, and has worked for 7 years, We now rebuild the motors, rather than buy new at 400.00 per. I am also wondering is the winterizing fluid is overly corresive to the pump.

Huh! Run the pump in reverse for 5 seconds and its winterized! No fluid needed!

But yes, its a know issue to mount the pump so the pump head is above the motor, which is why the pump manufacture advises against it.
