I have a noise only when my boat is in neutral after coming off plane and it sounds like a pulley getting ready go out. My question, do you think this might be the idler pulley getting ready to fail? I think this particular pulley has been known to fail on these G23s. Again, the noise only occurs while boat is in neutral.

Do you have a long screw driver and safe access to the front of the engine? If so you can use the screw driver to pin point the sound of a failing bearing. The key here is safe access and being very careful when doing this. My father taught me this when I was like 12 so this is a very old school technique from back before when kids worn helmets to play on the swing set....

My gut is telling me , it is probably a raw water pump bearing getting ready to fail.
