Got an 84' correct craft nautique, and the previous owner installed this wood spacer between the driver's seat and the seat base:

I'm average height but the extra wood has me looking over the windshield like a giraffe and makes it so hard to fit into the seat with the steering wheel up my waist. So i decided to remove the block.
But I soon realized that the holes in the seat frame do not line up with the holes in the seat base. So it is impossible to bolt the front and the back of the seat to the frame.
1. Any explanation?
2. What's the solution?
I think i just have to drill a new hole to bolt through... but its unfortunately may be too close to the existing hole which will just make for a giant hole instead that I am bolting through and will have to rig it up with some washers. any ideas appreciated
