    Lost a fin

Just hit a mini log and it ripped a whole fin out. Do you think I could get new screws and some rubber washers and salvage the weekend?

If you’re just looking for a temporary fix, just get a tube of 5200 and fill the holes. You’ll probably have to re-drill them anyway when you get a new fin.

Put RTV sealant in the holes to keep lots water coming in this weekend. If it leaks some, the bilge pump will take care of it.

You really need to let it completely dry out and at a minimum seal up the holes, otherwise if you get water in there it will get between the fiberglass and the gelcoat causing blisters over time.

If that happened to my boat I think I’d throw up.

So I tried just putting a new fin on with a lot of sealant but it wasn't water tight. Found out there is a trickle of water coming from the new fin area. Any suggestions for the correct course of action? I was thinking I need to find someone that does hull repair and have them redo the area and redrill new holes.
