The center window on my 2006 Nautique 226 binds when closing. Is there anything I can do to gain 1/16 or 1/8 inch in the opening?
At present the edge of the window frame has to be pushed towards port in order to close the window. The fit is so tight that at the top of the starboard side window frame, there is visible abrasion from metal to metal contact. The hinge operates freely, and there doesn’t appear to be excess play in the hinge. Here's a picture of the window resting on the frame prior to use of persuasion.
The alignment along the top edge is off.
Visually it appears that the starboard side aluminum strut supporting the window frame may be too short, and is pulling the frame back and down. I haven’t tried loosening it yet to see if the frame moves on its own. Given the propensity for tempered glass to explode from stress (or in this case the potential relief of stress that has been there for 18 years), I thought I’d first reach out to the community.
Any suggestions as to cause and potential remediation would be most appreciated.
