2008 220 super air nautique speaker issues.

Bought this boat last year and a number of the speakers aren't working. Most likely just bad speakers but I would like a wiring diagram of the Clarion Amp/Speaker wiring just to have as a reference. Any ideas where to get a copy of the wiring diagram?

    Thanks,

As I recall, the Bow speakers are driven directly off the head unit so they have plenty of volume. And some of the speakers are not powered enough by the amp.

In short, audiophiles would go in and rewire the speakers and maybe add an additional amp?

just try some Google searches to pull up some of the old threads.

You can get wiring diagrams for your boat here.....

I didn't see a stereo diagram for your year but I would suspect the one from 2005 would be close enough to give you an idea of what's going on.

      As to your issue.....

I've done my share of stereo troubleshooting over the years. My personal experience with issues such as yours has been that unless there has been physical damage to the speaker, severely overpowered it (melted down the coil) or it's been flooded by water, it is highly unusual to have multiple speakers go bad. More so, I've personally found that amp channels go bad and once one fails on an amp you can pretty much expect to see others follow.

There are a couple tests you can perform that don't take long like....
      • Pull a speaker and using an ohm meter test impendence, look for an open across the speaker.
      • Connect the suspect speaker to another source by switch channels on the amp to a speaker that is working.
If the stereo is original, my money would be on the channels on your 16YO amp(s) are dying.

If anything like my 08 210, the speaker wiring is an absolute mess, multiple speakers shoehorned into the same terminals on the amp, bow speakers not wired in , tower speakers wired illogically etc etc. I keep meaning to rewire but tbh, I’ve never gotten around to it in the 7 years that I’ve owned the boat .Two speakers have now died so I’ll get around to rewiring and as noted above, I’ll most likely add another amp to avoid the crazy wiring!! My car days of installing big stereos and poking around in hot hatches will come in useful at last.

I have an 08 210. Have redone stereo completely from factory.

the bow speakers are run directly off the head unit. Depending on what level stereo it came with , The (4) cabin speakers are off one amp with sub , and if you have tower speakers they’re ran offf a second amp. An ohm meter will be your friend as mentioned to test speakers. Otherwise the fail safe is find a channel that works and test each speaker. RCA cables that run from head unit to amps also could be probable culprit as well.

Does your amp have power. The shelf life on those original clarions is well past due depending on how boat was cared for and maintained.

The tower speakers are wired in order to save on having to run quad wires all way through the tower and back to amp so they splice em at the end to the tower pods instead. Back then wattage wasn’t near what you need for set rev 10’s , most were 6x9 or regular 6.5’s so that’s why they did it that way.
