pulling engine on 95 super sport nautique

Hey Guys. So I picked up a 1995 Super Sport. It had thrown a rod, and I verified it by seeing a hole in the side of the lower oil pan wall. Anyway, my son runs a diesel engine shop, so we have hoists and everything else at our disposal to use. My question is, what is the EASIEST way to get the engine out? I'd like to leave the PCM tranny and V Drive in place if that is possible and then left just the engine out. Anyone done this job? I'd love any hints, tips or tricks. I am hoping to be able to unbolt the tranny from the engine and just taking out the engine while the drive system remains in place.
