Dealers with Diagnostics for Ford Engine in Central MN

    Hi,

We are looking for a dealer / marina in Central MN (Brainerd/Nisswa area preferably) who has the diagnostics tool for a late ‘90s Ski Nautique with a Ford engine. Previously, we brought it to C&C Boatworks on Crosslake. I’m not sure why they don’t have the diagnostic tool anymore but they can’t figure it out.

Any leads / ideas are appreciated! Thanks!

    Dan

Hey Dan, what's the problem with your boat - lots of smart folks here may be able to help fix it!

The check engine light is on and the system is limiting the engine to 2,500 rpm’s. It is actually a 2001 Ski Nautique, not late 90s as I posted earlier.

      thanks for asking!

How many hours on your motor?
When was the last time for full tune - plugs, cap, rotor & plug wires?

Limp mode should only be triggered by oil pressure (low) or water temp (high). It's important to note that the switches that talk to the ECM are not the same as the senders for you dash gauges (but if the dash gauges are showing one of those conditions - then you'll need to rectify that). Assuming everything's showing ok on the gauges, odds are the oil pressure switch or the water temperature switch have failed. Both are relatively inexpensive parts to change. If I remember correctly, you can just unland the leads at one and then the other, and if the problem disappears, then you've found your problem.
