    Throttle Action Improvement

On my '99 Ski Nautique, looking to improve the throttle action. It's pretty sticky going into forward. We tow a lot of kids so it's constant shifting and I'd love a precise movement into gear.

    The shifter cables are new.

I took out the control and it's pretty worn, dried grease etc. but didn't have time to complete a disassembly/service. Seems like the sliding bar was the issue.

Preparing for next time I'm at the boat...
Question is will I have good luck taking the control apart, cleaning and greasing?
Or should I bite the bullet and order a new one from Nautique parts?
It's 25 years old so maybe it's due for one...

The brass pieces are wear items, so the action eventually becomes sloppy and/or hard to actuate. You can take everything apart and lube the parts and install new brass cable fittings. Everything should work good-as-new. Do a search for Morse throttle control cable fittings. You’ll find what you need.
