2014 super air natique 230 linc screen distortion (red/yellow) flickering

Hi everyone, i just purchased a 2014 super air natique 230 with 410 hours on it, Everything runs smooth however after about 10 hours between 4 surf sessions the screen has turned yellow and red and distorted on the top 75% portion of the screen. We were not able to use the screen at all (boat still ran) after a few minutes i turned the boat off and back on again and the screen worked again with no issues for the remainder of the 15 mins we took it back to dock. I've been searching around for similar problems on the forums here but would like to get a few more opinions as our nearest nattique dealership is quite some distance away.

some solutions we feel are possible

    1. Batteries could be getting low?
    2. Firmware update? is this actually a thing for 2014s? cant find any information on it
    3. I did turn the boat off only once using the battery unaware that i had to turn it off from the head unit. (outside of the water)

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated as i sold my left kidney to buy the boat because lifes too short not to have fun.

im looking at linc units and the only one i can find is 5.5k on natiques website, without labor. Did you have a dealer replace it? How much time did you have from when it started looking distorted to it actually completely going dark? ive got a big trip a ways a way and wonder if i could sneak another 20 hours onto it. More than likely every scenario is different just trying to cope, thanks in advance

The LCD panel is failing. It's one of a few common failure scenarios for that model screen. I've been repairing these screens for a few years. PM me if you're interested in getting it fixed.

In terms of how long will it last. Pretty much impossible to say. I've seen them continue in this state for quite a while, and I've seen them completely die the next day.

jpwhit have you ever tried to repair the Nautique Cruise gauge that came in boats without LINC? This gauge in my 2012 230 is sometimes hard to read and I fear it is on its way out.

Yes, I've repaired a number of those by installing a new LCD along with an adapter PCB that I developed to deal with differences in the connectors.

Excellent that is great to know! I don't think I need it quite yet but maybe I will send it out to you after I winterize and get ahead of it before it becomes a major problem.

I picked up a new to me 2014 230 as well couple yrs ago and first thing that failed that season was the LINC. Mine just went black one day and did not come back, blue lights on buttons visible, boat running fine but no bells and whistles to play with obvsly. Boat electrician stopped by and tested voltage on a bunch of wires and stumped. Decided to unplug the main cable going to the LINC and plug back in and fired right up! Still stumped.

Next failure that first season was the battery switch. The OEM version is prone to failure and the supplier has since beefed up the plastic housing to keep the battery leads in place. They (switch manufacturer, not Nautique) will send you a replacement free of charge as part of (lifetime?) warranty. Took weeks for mine to arrive vs 2 days on amazon but good to have a spare I guess.

Thanks for the info scha, I've scowered the internet for hundred of hours trying to find any decent educated response to this problem and not 1 helpful suggestion. This is by far the best description ive got. Im sure itll help many natique owners for years to come. We appreciate it!

If the battery switch doesn’t click into place and moves too freely, failure imminent from my personal experience.
