I have a 2002 Ski Nautique that we bought 3 years ago, it has sat the whole time. In that time it picked up 6-8 inches water on floor. Motor has corrosion on it. I am putting a new battery in it today so that we can attempt to start it. After all this time I don't remember anything they told me about it when we bought it. When I read the manuel I notice it says attach the lanyard. Do I have to have it attached in order to start the motor?
