    17" Prop on a 1:48 Trans G23 w 1.25" Shaft. Possible?

    Hey everyone,

I think I have a relatively unique situation with my 2013 G23. When I purchased it, they swapped the 1 1/8" shaft with the 1.25" shaft but I still have the smaller 15" diameter prop. Right now I'm running the 2309.

Anyone been in this situation before? I'm wondering if there's any opportunity to get more efficiency out of a 17" prop with the right specs on the 1:48 trans since I have the 1.25" shaft. But it might be feasible.

I also know people have done the 1:48 to 2:1 swap and that it adds a lot. Honestly I'd consider doing that too - I'll probably have this boat for a while so I'd consider that upgrade if it's worth it.

I called ACME today and spent 20 min on the phone of the guys who was heavily involved with propping the older G23 and providing recommendations to Nautique. The 17in prop really needs the 2:1 ratio to be beneficial at all. When the 2013 G23 came out, he said he recommended a 2:1 to Nautique. Even a 16" would be too much for that 1:48 ratio. I'm sure someone on here could have told me that but figured I'd save your guys' time. The 2309 was his recommendation for the boat given the 1.25" shaft that's on there and if I wanted to get a little more top speed I'd go to a .105" cup rather than the .150" cup on the 2309. Time for a 2:1 upgrade if I wanted any more efficiency out of this thing.
