EX343 coming out of gear under load

2010 Super Air Nautique with ex343

Issue: Under heavy load while pulling out a wakeboarder with heavy ballast the boat seems to almost pop out of gear. When i put the throttle down the boat gives me the normal initial build of power for about a second and then cuts power and the rpm skyrockets. happened once with a boarder behind the boat and then recreated the problem no one behind the boat.

The boat sounds and drives normal under all other conditions. Clicks in and out of forward and reverse gear without any problems. And if Im slow on the throttle and allow the boat to accelerate slowly it runs fine all the way up to WOT.

    Thoughts?

Transmission is slipping. Check the fluid level immediately, but unfortunately it only take slipping a few times to toast the clutches. So more than likely you're going to need a transmission rebuild or a new transmission. And sorry to be full of bad news, but if it's a PCM 40i transmission they are no longer made and parts are no longer available. So the only viable option is to upgrade to the latest PCM 80a transmission. And to continue on the unfortunate theme of bad news, last upgrade I did from 40i to 80a was right before the pandemic and the price of the upgrade kit has more than doubled since then...

    So here's hoping I'm wrong ......
or it is low on fluid and the clutches are still ok.
