    Computer/Software Issue - 2024 ZZ8S

    All,

Just sharing in case anyone else has run into this issue. Twice during a brief (< 1 minute) run at WOT, we received a 'DTC 520: Engine Oil Pressure low Stage 1 [SPN: 100, FMI: 18] - STOP ENGINE' warning on our 2024 ZZ8S. Our dealer ran the boat through its paces at their shop and had multiple discussions with PCM. As they relayed, apparently this is a known software issue, not a hardware issue. We were told that PCM is currently working on a fix/patch. We were told the boat is fine to operate, just to keep it below 5,000 rpm.

We were also having a problem with the thermostat being stuck open ( from the start, the boat would not warm up without load, and never would get above 145 degrees), but at about 45 hours (coincidently, the same time we first got the oil pressure warning) the issue resolved itself. Replacement thermostat on order (warranty) regardless.

That would cause a little panic attack to a see code flash on the screen with a brand new boat.
Thinking about how many recalls our daily driver vehicles have had since new, a lot of working (or non-working) components going on at once.
Good to know, glad they are on top of it.
Hard to believe you've got 45 hours on that rig already

I was more than a little puckered!

Agreed - these things happen, and the response from our dealer and PCM have been solid so far. We won't get too concerned unless we encounter ongoing issues, or those random 'phantom' issues that can't be recreated or diagnosed. Plus I knew going in that this was the first year of the ZZ8S; I usually try to stay away from 1st year engines, but it's a proven platform, and it was the only choice besides the ZZ6. I'm optimistic she's going to be a solid runner.

Yeah, just crossed 50 hours on Sunday - gotta get while the getting's good!

Oh sheesh! And in neon red x 2 to boot, wow!

Love the rear camera, a definite must on the next boat.
