    Perfect Pass - GPS dropouts

Looking for some info on Perfect Pass signal drops. Boat is a 2009 230TE. Last season it was great but this season there have been some GPS dropouts last week. Does anyone know what happens when PP loses it signal during a run? It appears to just pull the throttle all the way back to idle when it loses a lock when at a set speed. At first I thought it was a PP gps puck/system issue but I'm also getting a GPS signal drop indicator on my NNS kit form Max1.6 that also has a GPS tab retract, so it more likely a spotty GPS area outage. Not a big issue, but I have a couple of less experienced drivers on the boat. The PP manual I found doesn't really state what the system does while in use and a dropout occours.

I would call Perfect Pass. I've had a few questions in the past, and it's been extremely easy to get a knowledable person on the phone.

There was an issue with the puck software, regarding GPS week rollover (https://support.garmin.com/en-CA/?fa...FiAuY9kDnDBgZ6)

It causes all kinds of locking issues. Perfectpass will update your puck, or if you are handy with computers/wiring you can make your own adapter, download the software from garmin and get back up and going.

Tech specs and pinout are here https://static.garmin.com/pumac/GPS_18x_Tech_Specs.pdf
      Software is here https://www8.garmin.com/support/down...ls.jsp?id=4055

version 4.20 was were the fix happened. I think I ended up at 4.40.

Not only did this fix the issue, I found that the entire system performance improved.

Have you had the PP Puck GPS firmware upgraded since the GPS Week Rollover bug in 2019?

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_week_number_rollover

It specifically impacts GPS number of satellite reception.

Is this a perfect pass issue or a zero off issue? When I think of post 2007 boats, I generally think zero off.

Its a Garmin puck issue, with software older then 4.20 - affects anything including PP and ZO using the 18X pucks with older software.

In addition to the Garmin pucks, a lot of GPS modules suffered from issues with the week rollover in 2019. So a lot of firmware updates across the board in that timeframe.
