    Belt/idler pulley

This passed weekend I ended up throwing the serpentine belt. Seems at the same time of the belt shredding the tensioner and idler pulleys(plastic) decided to get torn up at the same time.

Has anyone used metal pulleys to replace these? Any negative thoughts on this?

Assume it will be easy to find pulleys just at auto parts store but if anyone has some part numbers that would be awesome!!

This is a 2014 g23 with the zr450 in it

This issue isn't exactly common but it does happen. Usually the idler pulley seizes and that causes the belt to shred. I don't know about any metal pulleys. I just get the ones from Nautiqueparts.com and go. It isn't a terrible job.

Ahh, I did reach out to Nautique parts and he said GM changed the pulley to metal anyways now. Ordered from them. I already have everything off just waiting on parts to get in and hopeful nothing else happened. Engine got a little warm but i shut it off as soon as I saw it and I have had gm engines run at 225 for normal operating temps as well so put the new parts on check it out with the belt cover off then do a little test run.

The engine is fine. There will be shredded belt EVERYWHERE so clean all of that out. Make sure all of the pulleys spin free. Sometimes belt cording will get wrapped around the axels.
