Anybody replaced their Holley 4160 with an Edelbrock 1409 on their 351 Ford?

Has anyone replaced the original Holley 4160 with the Edelbrock 1409 carburetor in a PCM 351 ci Ford? My son has my old ‘89 Nautique and his mechanic wants to replace the original Holley with the Edelbrock… I believe the Edelbrock is cheaper than the Holley. Thanks!

Edelbrock is a fine carb, but stay with Holley. Better yet…go with a Quick Fuel M600 or M650. Very similar to Holley, but many improvements. (Holley now owns QF).

Thanks! I will recommend the QF M 600 to him. It looks like a nice carb. I assume it doesn’t require any linkage modifications….

I have a friend who ran an Edlebrock on his 351 in his SN2001. The Edlebrock didn't run as well at an angle as the Holley. So he needed an angled spacer and some other stuff. It sounded like a pain to me but it has been done. I suspect ccfan would know more. I've heard good things about the Quick Fuel but I just bought another Holley last time I needed one.
