Something really strange just happened with my battery switch

My battery switch (pictured) normally "clicks" into place from OFF to position 1, 2 or 1&2. However now it's not "clicking" into position. It's very smooth with the movement and there's no indication of it "clicking" into position. As a result, even if I smoothly move it into position 1 or 2 and try to power up the boat, nothing happens.

I tried this yesterday, everything was fine.

However, today while the batter was in position OFF, I removed a ballast pump and re-installed a new one. I've done this a couple of times before with no issues. But now after having installed this new pump, I've got this odd behavior with the battery switch.

Please help! I'm days away from possibly selling this boat and was hoping to take it out tomorrow and test out my new ballast pump.

Sounds like it could be this?

Yes it does sound like a failing battery selector switch. And Personally I would disconnect both batteries first.
this is the part I ordered. I’m glad the write up helped!

uwhusky Your battery switch is Toast and needs to be replaced. Common problem on Nautiques. Had to replace mine on my 2017 G23 a few years ago. The selection knob broke off in my hand while I was turning it

Yep! I've disconnected the batteries and am in the process of taking it out now. Hoping the local Nautique or marine products store will have a replacement this morning so I can possibly get out on the lake this afternoon. Thanks!

Was able to find a switch at the local marine store. Works great!

Installation wasn't easy. Cramming my hands into that area under the dash while simultaneously unscrewing screws on the other side proved difficult. This is likely a two person job if you can get a helper.

OEM version prone to failure. Blue Sea will replace for free with their newer beefed up version.

I had purchased a used boat and thought the switch was supposed to spin freely without clicking into place as that was the experience from Day 1 and did not take that loose movement as a warning. Took complete failure of the swtich, coming apart in my hand to figure it out.

Manufacturer changed the part and beefed it up already. The new one you get is designed different but same part number

Is this battery switch in the compartment with the circuit breakers the only battery switch you guys have on your boats or is there another selector back by the batteries? Perhaps the later model 230s have the batteries somewhere else besides under the back seats like in my 2012? The reason I ask is I have the Off/Battery 1/Battery 2/All switch(I believe its a Perko but will check later) back by one of the batteries but I also have an On/Off Blue Sea selector switch in the driver console by the circuit breakers that looks very much like this problematic one? I always thought it was weird to have this redundant On/Off switch when I can just turn everything off via the main battery selector. Now I am wondering if the original Blue Sea selector failed and all the previous owner could get for the one by the breakers was an On/Off? Anybody else have this same setup as mine?
