Our SAN 220 had been having issues with power loss while towing a 3 person tube, or when trying to wake surf with a wake shaper. With the tube, especially when turning, it felt like there was something "slipping" or the propeller was cavitating. There would be power loss but the engine would rev. At times it would feel like it surged or had a quick drop in power. At high load, there would be significant white steam or smoke. When trying to wake surf, the exhaust would become extra-smelly. We replaced the impeller, replaced all of the spark plugs. When the mechanic hooked it up to the computer and we ran the engine, there were no error codes. Leading up to all of this, we had a bad bilge pump in the back. The boat was taking on exess water in the back. Initially, the power loss seemed to coincide with the excess water. The boat felt heavy in the back. We had the mechanic replace the bilge pump (and it works), but we still have the issue described above. If we got the serpentine belt wet with the greasy bilge water, could that have permanently fouled the belt and could that be causing all of the issues? Thank you in advance!!!

Where was water in the boat coming from?
Sounds like there may be multiple problems going on. It sounds like your transmission may be slipping, so wondering if the transmission cooler is cracked and the transmission is low on oil or has water mixed in the oil. These transmission typically won't survive slipping, so it may be toast.
But none of that explains the whits smoke / steam. Is this the first time the boat has been used since the winter?
Yes, oil can permanently ruin a belt, but a slipping belt wouldn't explain that many of your symptoms.
Sounds like you need to find a good boat service facility and have them figure all this out. Sounds like too much going on to diagnose over the internet.
