SN 2019 Hydrogate electrical (?) error

    Good morning!

We have an error in the display on our 2019 SN 200, saying "Hydrogate error". We just replaced the actuator/motor, but still have the same issue. As far as we can understand the gate moves fine and the wire/cable works fine. We dont really have a clue how to continue troubleshooting, maybe someone have experienced the same thing?

Attaching display photos, appreciate any advice!

    Regards,

    Petter Alexanderson in Sweden

The picture in the first screen shows the state of the power distribution module in real time. Meaning that you have to be looking at that screen when the error occurs, or the error has to be continuous. Most PDM errors auto-clear almost immediately if the error condition is transient. Also, the hydrogate and micro-tuner actuators are connected to the CanBus and are controlled by digital messages. So, I think the entry in the PDM screen diagnostics you're looking at is only the power feed for the actuator. The actuator itself can generate its own error messages via the CanBus.

I would diagnosis this by attaching a CanBus monitor to the boat, but short of that, I'm not sure how to tell you to proceed other than to take it to a dealer.

I'm not a big fan of the Ski Nautique due to this over-complication of the design. It's why I still have a 200 at the ski club and a ProStar at my lake house. Electronic actuators are un-avoidable on a surf boat, but overkill IMO on a ski boat.

According to the 2nd pic, it's pretty obvious you have a bug in your system (sorry, couldn't help it)

Clearly a bug! Thanks for the info, our dealer is located far from us, but this helps us understand what could be a next step. Thanks a lot!

The one other thing I can think to check is the hydrogate hardware is sliding freely without obstruction and any limits on the travel. If it's binding up or something is limiting the travel, the actuation will generate a position feedback error.

Ok, we checked and from what we can understand, it slides freely and without effort.

We will start measuring current on the connector Pins and see if we can find anything, and look for a Canbus-fellow in the area.

            Again thanks
