Engine sputters

Evening, I have a question regarding hesitation / bogging out at about 2,000 rpm.

the boat is a 1992 ski Brendella super comp. (same motors where in Nautique so I thought I’d ask here). Ford 351 GT 40 heads roughly 400 hours.
here is what I have done
- New OEM carb - Skidim
- drained fuel tank / filled back up
- just purchased a new mechanical fuel pump (should be here Wednesday) - Skidim

please if anyone has suggestions I’m open for it.

The problem is almost certainly that Pro-Tec ignition system you've got there. Those have almost all failed by now. You should be thrilled that yours lasted as long as it did.

My 92 Ski Nautique has that original ignition and I think that mine has started to fail.. It will stutter while running but idles fine. The weird thing is that the motor was acting up, then was fine, then acting up, then fine for a while. Pulled kids tubing on Sat and it was fine. Went out for a ride on Sunday. Lot's of stuttering.

Yep, that's how the Pro-Tec system acts when failing. Time to replace it.
