Steering Column Chatter Sport Nautique 200V

Anybody experience steering column chatter when taking off under load? Just lasts for a brief second or two. Dealer said could be something to do with steering cable attachment when we did test ride but nothing further....prop, shaft,etc...???

I've seen a few inboard boats do this but I would consider it more of a rattle. My experience was that it was caused by the prop cavitating or being slightly out of balance after a rebuild. BIL had one that would shake the windshield, bought a new prop and it went away. If it's an option, try it with another prop.

My 2013 210 steering column chatters for a second while pulling someone up on a surfboard with the tanks full and a boat full of people. It has always done it... hopefully it isn't anything bad!

Steering column chatter is usually always prop related. I would look into changing out your prop and see if that fixes the issue. If the pitch on one fin got changed from making contact with anything, you will have chatter.
