2019 G23 H6 ran great for 6 years and now has blown fuel relay 4 times and identical ignition relay once all in the past 4 days. Dealer wants to sept the 2 relays with a remote mounted socket for fuel relay….. but what is causing them to overheat and blow after 6 years on no issues!!!

If the contacts in the relay socket aren’t clean and tight, then there will be too much resistance between the socket pin and the relay contact. Resistance cases a voltage drop at that junction. Voltage drop with current flowing equals heat. The heat is burning up the relays.
But separating the relay out is a hack fix. The right way to fix the problem is to replace the contacts in the existing socket. Or if the socket is melted from the heat, then replace the whole socket. If they jury rig it like they are proposing, then people working on the boat in the future will be confused. May also be flagged as a problem later if you try to sell the boat.

jpwhit could there be a arc suppression board remote of the relays that is not working properly? It seams like something else causing relays to fail maybe fuel pump is going bad drawing to much current. Don’t know that motor but on elevator controls there is sometimes suppression remote of relays that fail and cause relay failure.

Service teck found a couple wires under the block that had gotten hot and melted the coating allowing them to arc. He re wired the fuel relay to a new plug and located it away from the ignition relay. This way the two heat sources are separated from each other, minimizing the chance of future melting issues.
