1997 Correct Craft - Starting issue

Hello I have a 17.5 Correct Craft with a PCM 351 Winsor with approx 230 hours . I bought the boat a year ago and have it running almost perfect now. I have tuned it up, and replaced the Holley Carb.

Now my issue is at the boat ramp when first try and start the boat it doesn't turn over right away. I move in in and out of N and then once it turns over it fires up and starts easy. Once it starts the first time and its runs for a but it seems to fire right up in subsequent starts. I replaced the Neutral safety switch. I thought this fixed it because it was turning over right as soon as you turned the key. I tested it a bunch of times and I thought I was good to go. However the last two time I've gone out it doesn't like to turn over at the ramp.

Any input would be helpful! Thanks

Just checked and it clicks every time you turn the key. I am thinking about just replacing the starter. How do I determine if its clock wise or counter clock wise rotation?

Much cheaper just to get it rebuilt

Or doing your own rebuild is not that difficult, lots of good guides on line.

Thanks for the tip Rednucleus. I took it to a local small shop. The guy determined it was the solenoid on the starter. I think I got it wet while land testing my boat. I took the starter off and he rebuilt it immediately and put a new solenoid on it. Fired up like it was brand new.
