    GT-40 Overheat - Odd

    2002 SN 196 w GT40
Boat was operating as usual. Drove 15 mins to ski course, pulled 4 skiers though the course a number of times, start/stop etc.. No issues..
Driver goes to pull me skiing and boat goes into limp mode and temp is high.
Paddle back to another boat and go get some tools..

Check impeller..No issue here at all - but change it anyway - temp reads high (200 degrees)
Thermostat - check this also and replace with new one - Temp reads high (200 Degrees)

Check water flow at manifolds (more on this below), out of thermostat housing.. all good. Drain block and confirm it fills with water..

So far nothing indicating an issue with water flow at all. So maybe I just had some weeds and plugged the intake enough, but since has cleared, and maybe the temp sender went bad at the same time and is reading very high..

However, one odd thing about the exhaust manifolds. When I removed the hose with the engine running, on both manifolds it was spraying water back out of the water inlet. It was spraying with the exhaust pulses. Now if it had just been one of them I would have thought maybe my old manifolds and risers finally let go, but both at the same time would be odd.. So maybe..gets me thinking, that a muffler baffle is blocking the flow and causing some blow back.. but maybe this is normal? There is no other indication of a exhaust blockage.

So I really don't know where to go from here? Impeller/blockages/thermostat all been checked. I've ordered another temp sender but it still baffles me.

Confirmed bad sender - 39ohm reading on very cold motor.. Which is all fine and good, I can put a new sender in.. but why go into Limp AND lose a sender at the same time?

I'm unsure what temp reading 39ohms equates too, but if the sender is showing 200+ degrees that would cause the limp mode. Bad sender equals high temp reading and limp mode, but possibly not actually running hot.

the sender for the gauge is off the engine water pump. A temp switch is for the limp mode circuit.

I would laser thermo the engine say at the switch or water-pump, get a definitive reading there.

The impellor pump supplies the engine block, gated by the t-stat for circulation with the engine water-pump.
the manifolds just get raw water to mix in with the exhaust.
