    Intermittent "Check Engine" Light - 2008 SV211

I was out on our 08 SV211 and noticed the check engine light would come off and on intermittently. It would stay on a few minutes, turn off for a minute or two, and then come back on. Oil pressure was around 50 PSI and steady, and engine temp was around 140 or so. I did fill up earlier in the day, and think I tightened the gas cap enough, but are there any things I should check before I take it in to the shop? I would appreciate any thoughts as the boat seemed to be running well outside of the check engine light. Thanks in advance!

I had an intermittent Check Engine (CEL) light a few years back on our 08. It would go on periodically, then mysteriously back off. It would even flicker some. I was fortunate to be able to borrow a scan tool and it was throwing code SPN:91, which is related to the throttle position sensor. I replaced the TPS (had to get the ECM re-flashed in the process) and the CEL light no longer came on. Not sure how you could check that though without having some way of getting the engine codes.

Agreed throttle position sensor is the culprit. Our 2008 Nautique with 343 had exactly the same issue as you describe. It will only get worse from where it is currently at! Reflash ECM and new TPS.
