    2001 5.0 tbi

    Greetings,

Herinaut is a 2001 Air Nautique Direct Drive (Sport Hull) with the 5.0 Chevy based powerplant and TBI fuel injection. The boat has >1800 hours. Late spring I noticed a fuel smell in the exhaust. Fuel consumption was also more than usual. There were no leaks in any fuel lines, at the FCC, low pressure pump or throttle body. When I removed the spark arrestor and ran the engine both at idle and under load on the water, the starboard side injector was dumping fuel as well as creating a spray consistent with the spray on the port side. I searched high and low for new injectors and found "Marine calibrated injectors designed for 29 PSI fuel pressure". I replaced both. Also, both low and high pressure fuel pumps were replaced in 2022. Fuel filter was replaced and is changed at least yearly too.

Since then the boat runs good at all speeds but seems to bog down during acceleration. Feathering throttle seems to help. Pulling a skier or boarder out of the water is problematic with the bog.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mark
