    NSS for older Nautique

I am seriously thinking about designing and building a NSS for my 2006 SANTE210 similar to the current system. There are several post where people have made mounts to for a board to extend off the rear of the transom. I have purchased a few wake shapers but do not get the desired wave shape or push. Nautique was very innovated with their design and it does not take up much room off the rear of the boat.

I have looked into the Go Surf Assist system, but not a fan of the modified trim tabs mounted off the back of the boat.

    Everyone's input is welcome.

I put a kit from Max1.6 on this forum onto my 2009 SAN 230TE and a FAE pipe on at the start of the 23 season. While it is nice, and looks fancy, having spent $3000 on his kit and actuators and doing the install myself, I do prefer the wave we got with our older set up and I think you would be better off spending money on an additional ballast kit, updated pumps and grabbing some lead vs a tab kit on an older boat. Pay to have someone for a local surf camp come for a 1/2 day and show you how to weight your boat for the best wave you're gonna get out of that hull. Theres so many variables. The previous owner of the ours had it just dialed in for surfing with a near vintage Ronix8/3 shaper and 3 bags overs stock tanks. I came in not liking the OG velcro style of his shaper and thought a fancy tab kit was going to be amazing. I shouldn't have messed with the wave setup that he had rolled with for a decade. When I had mentioned getting a kit to the previous owner he had said that he had surfed the wave from a 2015ish 230 with NSS (his neighbours boat) vs his 09 setup and still preferred the wave of the older shaper and weighting he could run with it. Side swap and auto retract is fancy, but it's fast to move a shaper one you know exactly where its got to sit and top up/drain a tank as need. Now 210 vs 230 is hard to compare, but NSS will run less weight lets you see how the boat crabs left right when deployed but not going to be amazing as you think it will be. I slapped some fresh verco back on the hull and rolled with his original recipe after testing the tabs.

The thing that I do like with after the NSS kit mod is the swim platform raise that I did. $value stay with a shaper and get a FAE slip on pipe.

Aeasson what advantage did you see with the raised swim platform? Was it affecting the surf wave previously? I haven't noticed that on my 2012 but I think the platform shape was different and wider on the 09s. I have been considering adding NSS, but have been concerned I wouldn't like the wave as much as I do with my Fat Sac mega edge shaper as I have that dialed in now with extra ballast. Being able to switch sides on the fly would be nice but I have friends with surf gate when I want to mess around with that.

To the OP, the OG 210 hull is an excellent wakeboard wake but can be tough to get a consistent and repeatable surf wave out of. I am not sure if anybody has experimented with an NSS type system on that hull. I tried Mission Deltas and a few others that I forget but my best wave was with a home made suck gate that was larger than the mission and places a foot or so in front if the hull taper line.

The older boats have a lower sitting swim platform before they were updated from the 3 bracket mount. You have to back space it from the hull and raise it up to clear the actuators and tabs. It now sits just nicely out of the water when moored and I was able to mount a boarding ladder for some elders without it disturbing the wave. If you already have a dialed in wave that you really like I wouldn't mess around with a kit. I found the starboard wave wasn't near as good as what the existing gate produced, port side was similar. With more testing and balast changes it could probably get closer but for the money I kind of wish I had put it towards some new audio components as it was such a good wave before. The tab kit was part of an overall boat refresh last year with a new pipe, interior and seadek.
