Hey all, brand new to this forum. For a short intro, my father and I had a 1998 full custom Malibu Echelon (last hull from that mold ever built) that we had built for us. Unfortunately it was lost after it got caught in a flash flood up here in CT in August. It went over a ****. We are now looking for a GS22. There are a limited couple for sale up near us. We took one for a test ride from a private sale yesterday (2018 gs22) and the owner couldn’t figure out why the touchscreen wasn’t working. The screen works with the dial as it should it just doesn’t recognize touch. The owner said this was new and he hadn’t used the boat in a month and he would have it looked at. I’m wondering if anyone on here has had that experience. I did look through quite a few topics but didn’t see this specific issue. I’m wondering whether he somehow locked himself out of a setting or something. Thanks for any help and look forward to being involved in the forum when I decide which boat I’m going with.

Could just be some corrosion on the connector. Who knows though. If it needs to be replaced, you're looking at at least $4,000.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. That’s a fairly common failure for the HV700B screen in that boat. And if everything was working except the touch part, then that can’t be caused by anything other than problems internal to the screen. I repair these screens so I have a lot of first hand experience. That screen will need to be repaired or replaced. Even if it starts working again, I would avoid it unless it’s been replaced. They are often intermittent at first but they get worse over time.

That is common. The replacement cost is around $4,000, but it is a very easy replacement. Negotiate that amount off with the seller, and you will have a new screen. You could likely even get used to using the rotary knob (I never have) and save the $4k discount.

Will say we rarely, if ever, use the touch screen (would however want it fixed if it was down).
If you have other pilots with sharp painted finger nails, teach them how to navigate with the rotary. Just sayin'
Good luck with the boat/screen, and be thankful that showed up now vs later.
I got a lot of "well it worked before you bought" feedback with our 2016.
