2006 SV-211 TE - For the last year, been having gauge issues with Faria Tach and Fuel gauges only. Been temperamental, sometimes they "wake up" and work fine, sometimes not. It doesn't appear to be the dreaded gateway failure. The gateway box in my boat seems to be the newer generation and doesn't have the speedo water feed pitot ports. It just has wire connections. I checked it and it is sealed up good with no signs of corrosion. I was told it might be a loose ground wire issue in the gauge cluster. I removed dash and I noticed that there is a loose, uncoated wire with the small plug that goes to the Tach. Picture attached. Is the uncoated wire (I assume a ground) supposed to be included with one of the wires to this plug? I noticed other plugs to the other gauges have an uncoated wire that is connected to their plugs. Any electrical experts out there know the answer?

Not certain at this point. All I know is that the tach has 2 separate plugs to it, a big plug and a smaller plug. This is the smaller plug. I'll take a look to see if this plug wire grouping loops to other gauges or goes back to gateway.

Jakeholt It could be P14 connector on your gateway box that connector has those four colored wires plus a shield. I still think it’s is a shield wire should have been taped to the other wires so it’s not bumping against anything. The problem you’re having maybe independent of one another those gauges do have issues with the stepper motors and capacitors in them. Wish I was more help maybe someone else will chime in good luck.
