Hello,
I have a 2001 Sport Nautique with the PCM APEX 5.7 engine, and I've put about 20 hours on it without any issues. Last week, it performed well during a youth event, running for 10 hours over two days without a hitch. On Friday, I took it to the river, and it started up and ran smoothly, though there was a slight miss during one acceleration—nothing major. I cruised at low speeds for about six minutes before shutting off the engine to swim with my family.
When I tried to start it again, it fired up for two seconds and then died. I repeated this process five times, checking the battery cable and cycling through the keypad, but to no avail. After about eight attempts, it would only crank without starting. I noticed that there was no whine from either fuel pump. I swapped the ignition and fuel pump relays, but there was no change. I ended up leaving the lake and heading home.
Today, I examined the situation further and pulled both fuel pumps, including the low-pressure pump and the FCC pump. Both ran fine on 12V. However, it seems like there’s no power reaching either pump on board. All other boat functions are working fine. My next step is to check the fuel check valve, but I assumed the low-pressure pump would still operate even if it wasn’t pulling fuel.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue?
