Brian, you issue sounds like you just have a master code entered and no user codes. If there is just the master code it is programed to be easily started for ease of use for the dealers and manufacturer I would assume. I had this issue as well, and it was becasue my battery was disconnected for a period of time and it lost my user codes. It will always retain the master code as it is embedded, yet the user codes will seem to get deleted after a while. Once I reprogramed my codes, it would lock itself once again.

I have tried the throttle in several different positions so far to no avail, I called SE correct craft today and spent a fair amount of time on the phone with Art in their service dept, I will say that they are a very helpful dealership, I dont know them outside of this problem, but based on the time the tech invested in me a phone in caller I would reccomend them highly. any way I pulled out the keypad, all solid state. I pulled out the control box and it is a circuit goard and has all your circuit breakers and relay in it. The breakers are easy totroubleshoot as they pop in and out. the relays are hard mounted tot he board and without pulling the board out of the box you cant check them. I did verify that I have plenty of pwr to the box even with a load on it. But the relay never clicks when I input the code. At this point either the system does not recognize the code or the key generator in the control box is just bad,.. Dealership said either part is about $500 bucks each... ouch... So my quest to repair this intime to sell the boat this weekend in slipping away. I did try to jump out the starter to the engine with not success from the wiring pin outs that SE supplied me. Right now I am a little frustrated, But I guess I might have to back out of the sale and take the boat toa dealership and let my insurance pay for it... maybe I was meant to keep it :P

the modules do have a high failure rate sounds like you have one going bad. you can jump it at the relay box to test you can also get rid of it and add a key its a much cheaper fix. i did this for a guy who had 2 keyless modules go bad in a about 2 yrs time. cc was willing to give him a new one for free on the third try but he was tired of dealing with it. so if you ever see a 01 pro air missing the pad and has a key you will know why. the guy still has it and luvs his key. its a cool system WHEN it works but it SUX BAD when it dont.

              To all,
I just wanted to add one last post to this blog. I talked to SE CC and they were really super working with me over the phone, I ordered the keypad as I was convinced that that was the problem, it came in today and I was out of town, I had my daughter plug it in and hit the code. I am very happy to report that the boat roared to life. Although I was shouting for her to shut it off over the phone but that throaty GT40 drowned me out. I did not expect her to actually start it up. But I'm good to go and I thank everyone for their valuable input.
              Thanks (really)

                Erratic starting problems

I too have the same problem with my 2000 Air with the keyless ignition system. Is there any written instructions on how to bypass the keyless system and install a convential key system? How much is it to replacw the keyless key pad?
