I buy the highest rated one I can find. I think my curent one is rated at 10,000 pounds. Not easy finding a 2" ball rated that high as most are rated for 3500, and the next most popular rating is 5,000.

Make sure the hitch and the ball both exceed your maximum weight, with good margin. THis one is good for 6000lbs. BTW, try to use a hitch that allows your trailer to lay level when attached. If you have issues with sway or tongue weight, you can get a different height hitch. I used a level on the trailer to get it right. Sorry if I'm being presumptuous.
