To place new decals on the boat mix a small amount of dish soap (plain ajax or palmolive) with a spray bottle of water. No more soap than maybe a teaspoon with the whole bottle of water. It should be just enough to cause the water to foam if you shake it. then liberally spray the decal and the gel coat where the decal is to be applied. Carefuly place the decal on the boat trying to avoid air pockets. It will be almost impossible to have no pockets but the fewer the better. Once the decal is on you can carefuly move it around. Once you have it set, spray the outside of your decal with your water bottle and then use a decal application squeegie (or a soft pliable piece of plastic) to run the water out from behind the decal. Allow about a day for the decal to completely setup. Its really quite easy.

RE: Re: RE: Removing old stickers/decals

Dudes, I can't believe no-one has suggested hot water out of a kettle - I have used this to remove decals from commercial vehicles, trucks and even my various boats over the years. Simple: Boil your kettle, pour over stickered area, peel the decal off without leaving any residue - it all comes off as one! V.easy and without any damage. If you have a halo effect and you aren't reapplying a decal over it simply use an orbital polisher and some soft cutting compound. I have done this a number of times with great results. However, not sure I would want to try it on an all black boat!!:-)
